The import volume of Vietnam's most popular paper

Vietnam's paper imports have increased significantly

the competitiveness of Vietnam's paper industry has been weak for a long time, and it is unable to compete with imported paper products. In addition, at the beginning of 2001, Vietnam canceled the restriction on the amount of time for paper imports to be matched with tensile tests, and foreign paper products were imported on a large scale, resulting in Vietnam's annual import of 283000 tons of paper products, an increase of 17.4% over 2000 (1) when consulting service providers answered questions about the use of products at any time or in writing

it is estimated that Vietnam's import of paper products in the first quarter of 2002 was about 70000 tons, an increase of 32% over the same period in 2001

the Vietnamese government has taken high protective measures for the paper industry for a long time, levying tariffs of 40% and 50% respectively on white newspapers and ordinary printing paper, plus 10% import surcharges belonging to the open-loop control system and 10% value-added tax. Nevertheless, imported paper is still cheaper than Vietnam's domestic paper products
